ST Reflection 2009 – Secondary 2NA/Exp

Term 1, Week 8 (23 Feb 09)

Getting to the heart of Total Defense (Home-Youthink pg B7)

Q1) In the last line, what did the writer mean by suggesting that “he may have found more porcupines than rats?”

the writer suggested that there are more bold people from the last time to now as more and more people are becoming braver then being a lazy or who do not like to participate. Evidence is from this year’s Total Defence campaign, as he suggests that he may have found more porcupines than rats.

Q2) What’s worth giving up your life for?

It means a lot to people as we live in Singapore so we should give up our life for our own country. it means a lot to people as those who are disabled in any way, they cannot defend our country. as we know, there are 5 defense, physcological defense, social defense, military defense, civil defence, and economic defence. for a girl, military defence is not compulsary, so lets not talk about that(i want to but i am not fit. ahaa.). for civil defence, it is about taking care of your family, friends, and people around you in times of crisis. Everyone can do that. For economic defence, it is for those who worked, starting to work or working as it is about working and saving to achieve a better life for everyone. i can do that when i grow up. For social defence, it is about living in harmony, looking out for one another. thinking about one another. that is happening everywhere. for phsycological defence, it is about our loyalty towards Singapore. i am loyal.

ST Reflection 2009 – Secondary 2NA / 2E

Term 1, Week 7 (16 Feb 09)

No Loitering After School (IN! pg 7)

Q1) Why Coral Secondary School forbids students to idle around near their school in their school uniform?

The principle wants the students of Coral Secondary School to use their time prudently(to study, do something better than loitering, revise their work or/and do their homework at home.).

Q2) Do you agree with this rule? Explain your answer.

No. to me, the students there do not have life to have to go home and change. If they do not have e-zlink card, they have to use a lot of coins to go home and come back to white sands to buy food and to go home again. They will then use more money. It is not fair to those who have financial problem as they will use more money when they need it for other things rather than to take bus a lot of times. And for those who wants to hang out after school but cannot go out when they already reach home, it is not fair too.

ST Reflection 2009 – Secondary 2NA / 2E

Term 1, Week 6 (9 Feb 09)

Master of One (Life! People pg 4)

Q1) What was Jack Neo’s vocation when he was serving the nation?

Jack Neo signed on with the army as an infantry officer, he got posted to the army’s Music and Drama Company, he worked as a junior artist(part time actor), emceeing, singing and comedy skits on TV, live theater and getai shows, conducted drama-training classes, produced karaoke music videos, recorded best-selling comedy albums and published a comic book.

Q2) “Hard work leads to success.”
To what extend do you agree with this statement?

I do not agree to this statement as the result will not always be a success. Hard work may give us a good grade and benefits to pass our exams but sometimes if you work hard, but not smart, it wont lead to success but stress. For success in money, do not work for money, make the money work for you. For success in studies, study for future, not parents nor good grades, think for yourself, not hesitate for tiredness and boredness.

ST Reflection 2009 – Secondary 2NA / 2E

Term 1, Week 5 (2 Feb 09)

Golfers, youths in brawl on green (HOME, pg 1)

Q1) How did the teenagers trespass into Singapore Island Country Club?

They were walking in the forested area near the Mac Ritchie Reservoir to see the monkeys after drinking for a night at Vivo city. They were trying to get out of the forest when they wandered into the golf course.

Q2) Is underage drinking correct? Explain your answer.

No . It would affect their studies, and their mind for thinking. It is strictly for above 18 as their mind have changed/matured and can differentiate properly what is right and wrong. Under the age of 18 would not be the right age.
